 Hear His Voice Recovery workbook is an effective tool for returning citizens. It blends fundamental principles with real life experiences to help guide us and keep us focused on our successful reentry. I like that it addresses not only the obstacles we may face upon release, but also the conditions and trauma that contributed to incarceration. This workbook reaffirms the importance of a strong mind, body, and soul unified and functioning at its highest capacity.  The Hear His Voice Recovery Workbook was very informative, and it showed me various ways to develop a strategy to be successful upon release. I like the fact that they touch on post incarceration syndrome which is a reality for individuals who've spent decades in prison like myself and encourages taking care of your mental health. And I can relate to the content in this workbook, and I can relate and identify with what I've read and studied.

The material within this men's workbook is filled with powerful information as well as tools to assist an individual along the challenging process of recovery on a self-directed basis. This workbook helps to give language to issues most of us has struggled with most our lives. As a Certified Peer Specialist, working within the Department of Corrections, I carry this book with me to every peer meeting I have and I also use it as a guide to help facilitate various group meetings. As an individual with lived experience navigating both incarceration and the mental health system, I've come to understand the transformative power of support and this workbook foster just that in a trauma informed, strength-based way.

I love this book for reasons too numerous to name, but most of all for its authenticity and sincerity. Trauma is a deep, delicate and insidiously ubiquitous subject that touches us all to one degree or another, but it is so often addressed clinically without the depth of emotion or true experiential understanding crucial to providing substantive insight and genuine pathways to healing.

Where others miss the mark and approach the subject superficially with empty platitudes, Ms. Kingcade and her superb team of collaborators approach it head on from a place of genuine lived experience and knowledge, and offer viable, real-world solutions applicable to real-world trauma instead of hollow assertions and colloquial aspirations.

For those serious about learning and gaining the tools to overcome and break free from the chains of trauma this book is a Swiss Army knife, chock full of useful, applicable, and meaningful ways to begin the journey through trauma and recovery, healing, understanding, and self-actualization.

I commend the team on writing such a powerful and useful work and I am immensely grateful for all of the lives that it is sure to change.
